Back to reality

Vacation is over. It went by wayyyyyy too fast. I say this every time we look forward to something, but it's like, you're standing in line at an amusement park, the next thing you know, you're at Krystal Burger in Georgia a week later and it's all over. It was a phenomenal vacation, well... except for the kids fighting (see previous post). That didn't let up much. But we did have some family bonding moments that I'm sure will stick in their minds to recall years from now.

So we headed home on Friday. I took off work last Friday so I could load up the car, tend to last minute details, and most importantly, clean the house. I love com ing home to a straightened, clean house. I cleaned it down to a T. Bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen... you name it! Well, then it came time to head down to the basement, which now houses Alex. It started out only being her room, but she kind of took over the rec room too with all the Barbies, baby dolls, clothes, etc... I just didn't have another ounce of energy left. I kept trying to talk myself into it, but I took her piles of laundry, left them on the floor of her room and just closed the door.

When we got home Saturday morning, around 10 a.m.,we walked into my immaculately clean house (this is not a normal occurance so I like the way it sounds!) and glanced down the basement stairs to......... water! Our sump pump quit working somewhere during the past week, of course while no one was around, and flooded everthing down there, Alex's room and all. All the Barbies, baby dolls, clothes, etc... You name it, it was wet. Wow. Not a fun thing to come home to. We called the insurance company, got a cleaning service in to suck up the water and set up fans and dehumidifiers, and a day later, things seem to be getting back to normal.

Now I just have to unpack.

THAT BITES! I think you all should just live in a trailor. Homes do not agree with you.
