What's old is new...again?!

Ok, I first noticed this when Alex was about 3. She asked for a Care Bear. Huh? I used to have Care Bears. They're out again? Then it was Strawberry Shortcake. I had Strawberry Shortcake. Rubik's Cube. We had those. We even learned how to solve those. New video versions of Pac Man, Frogger, Asteroids, Centipede. We had those for Atari. Heck, now they even sell plug-n-play video games that look like the old Atari ones. Easy Bake Oven... well, I guess that one never left. Hollie Hobbie... I had a Hollie Hobbie bedspread and canopy when I was like 6.

And every so often it seeps in through my car radio. The background music of Tainted Love in a new song. The Cheetah Girls with snippets of Lionel Ritchie's "All Nigh Long" in their chorus, the Jonas Brothers version of "We're the Kids of America, whoa-oh", Fergie (aka Stacy Ferguson from Kids Incorporated), the list goes on....

Dancing With The Stars really hit on it bringing back old stars for the new kids to love... Joey Fatone, Billy Ray Cyrus. Alex couldn't believe Joey was in a boy band with Justin Timberlake, and worse yet, that I knew their songs- even though they weren't that long ago. But this last thing that really got me thinking about all these was the most UNBELIEVABLE to me... a reunion of NKOTB (as they're most currently known as) or as we remember... New Kids on the Block! This just thrilled me! I had a Jordan Knight pillow case and actually stood out all night at Record Town with someone I'll keep anonymous (Kelly) just to get concert tickets when they went on sale early the next morning! Now when they hit it big again, I'll be able to impress my daughter with my knowledge of their songs and dance moves - or more likely embarrass my daughter! That's what I live for!

Thanks for not mentioning my name... that was a fun night. I remember the night much more than the concert. I wonder what that means?
