Pen Pals

I have a pen pal. Yes, I'm a 36 year old wife and mother of 2, and as if I don't have enough going on in my life, I have a pen pal. Now fast forward technology......we met on myspace. Ok, Julie, you're not 12. But really, it's an interesting story.
About a year ago I was checking my myspace and had a new message. Usually they're from you guys, college girlfriends. You're the only ones who have my myspace address. So out of the blue, I get this message saying "You grew up in Memphis and went to EMU? Do I know you?" It sounded just like those email spams that start out saying "I know what you really want..." then end up advertising some physical enhancement drug when you open it. But I'm pathetic. I don't usually get mail that's not bills, so I was curious. I responded, "Why would you think you know me?" A day or so later I get a return message saying this guy used to visit his aunt and uncle in Memphis every summer on Cole Street and then went to Eastern. And he loved Memhis, it was such a quaint little town. When I responded asking who his relatives were, it ended up my mom grew up by them and she even knew who he was, telling me what a cute little boy he was. His uncle was even my 7th grade teacher (Mr. Lewis). He's a 5 or 6 years older than I am, so we weren't at EMU at the same time. But over the past year we've traded stories about people we have in common, finding out who was who, who died, etc...
Today he emailed me telling me he's coming to Michigan for his 25-year class reunion. He lives in California. I think it would be fun to do lunch (of course with my husband in tow, I do watch all those Lifetime movies, he could be a stalker/slasher). Who knows.
Tying into this topic, Alex told me one of her friends in school was moving back to Puerto Rico and today was her last day. I said, "Did you get her address? You two could be pen pals." She said, "Mom, I don't think they have computers in Puerto Rico." First of all, why not? Second, she's apparently never heard of envelopes and stamps!
