How do I know that? Well, I went through McDonald's this morning for my usual large iced tea. Only now McDonald's offers SWEETENED iced tea. I don't get sweetened iced tea...ever. My girl knows that. Why do they even have it in Michigan? If I want it sweetened, I'll put sugar in it. Except today, I get my drink from drive-thru, get to work, take a big drink and... blaaaaghghghgh!
Then at work I check my email and find a notice from UPS telling me they delivered a package YESTERDAY. I went home on my lunch break yesterday and there was no package. It had snowed the night before, there were no tire tracks, no footprints, nothing to even hint of a package delivery. Oh, did I mention it was an ipod I ordered for Alex's birthday. And the reason I ordered her an ipod -- I got her a $99 Mp3 player for Christmas, a Disney Mix-Max, because she used her $15 one every day and took really good care of it. So I figured, what the heck, I'll get her a good one, one that plays video too. She loved it! Then exactly 16 days after Christmas it stopped working. Of course the 30 day warranty had expired because I did my Christmas shopping early this year. I Googled it and found out it got HORRIBLE reviews, and that Disney had horrible customer service when people had problems with it. So I figured we may as well just get her an ipod and be done with it. It's reputable.
So now I have no ipod. I called UPS and all they said was, "The driver said he delivered it to the garage." I asked, "Are you sure they had the right house?" "Isn't your address blah-blah-blah-blah?" "Yes, but that doesn't mean he actually came here. Maybe he went down the road?" The CS Rep then tells me they can't even launch an investigation until the sender contacts them about it. I can't do anything about it myself. So now I have about $200 into Mp3 players with nothing to show for it. And by the time this gets all straightened out, I'll probably just have to get her another one, at another $100. Maybe she should just go back to the $15 one. It was a lot less hassle! Or maybe we could give her an ipod IOU. I dont' think that'd go over too well.
And I might not be so bitter toward UPS if last Friday hadn't happened. I ordered some paper products online for her birthday party -- some table covers, paper plates, napkins, Hannah Montana party supplies, etc... When I pulled in my driveway at 5:30 Friday night, there was a pink & blue explosion in my yard. Shredded paper products everywhere! Yup... the delivery man left my package on the porch with both dogs out that day. They destroyed every bit of it! I was so embarrassed. We're already the Beverly Hillbillies of Hyde Park Subdivision, and now it's Friday night and I'm out in the yard with a garbage bag picking up chewed up paper plates, tablecloths, and trying to get hot pink napkins out of the pine trees, where the wind had blown them. Just about the same time all the neighbors start to come home from work too.
Ok, I've vented enough. I think I'll just go home tonight, crawl under the covers and wait for my luck to just pass.
