I've spent the last week home sick on the couch, fighting with Alex over which one of us has to get up and let the dogs in and out and in and out and in...... But every day at 4:30, I had to drag my butt up off the couch, throw on my coat, boots, hat, scarf and mittens, and drudge to the car to go out and pick up Sam at daycare. I decided yesterday that I didn't even have enough energy to scrape around any Schwann's ready-made-frozen meals for dinner, so we headed for the border.
I pulled up at Taco Bell, ordered a Taco Salad, pulled away and... voila! Right in the middle of a big, fluffy, wet, windy snow storm, my car window was dead. Not slow, not half up, nothing. All the way down in 10 below weather. For the next 6 miles home Sam and I cranked up the heat and pretended at every stop light that we actually wanted the window down, much to the curiosity of the people in the cars next to us.
So to celebrate this Valentine's Day, I got a $110 motor for my 1997 Toyota Camry. Not chocolate, not flowers, but the guarantee of warmth on my way to work tomorrow morning.
